Ok wanted to get your guys input..my mom drove a all manual 66 f250 long bed growing up.. it had a non factory 292 3/tree setup.. I bought her another one but it's a suprise.. got a 66 custom cab long w/352 4spd.. bed and Fenders are nice.. cab has floor rust and minor drip rail rust.. I know that's work but I don't have a problem doing it.. I bought a donor truck.. 77 250 camper special.. no motor or trans. But has a 3.07 dana 60 out back.. cab solid as are the floors, doors and fenders.. didn't come with bed.. the 70s sheet metal is going on some of my other trucks but the floors and tranny tunnel need to go in the 66.. I know there's some minor differances. Now the question.... if you had it and were giving it to a 53 year old 100 lb. Woman, how would you build the truck.. drivetrain, motor mods etc.. it probly get used to haul a 12' camper and pull a 18' boat during the summer then be parked the rest the year.
IMO towing is best left to the new rigs, especially at the speeds everyone runs now days.
My 64 F100 is a nice cruiser, I don't take it out in bad weather or make it work.
If I was on a farm or in the country, I may think differently.
I would upgrade the brakes. Discs if you can. Vacuum booster dual cylinder for a minimum. Does the donor truck have power steering? If so, you may consider putting it in as well.

Or, The 292 was last installed in 64, maybe mom's year recall is a bit fuzzy. As long as your 66 is a 2wd the 77 floor pan is same until last 4 inches, so swapping parts is good. Doubt, then go measure them.
Can't disagree with S123 either, I'd try to get her in a newer quitter better handling truck.
Since she isn't as young now....PS/PB are a must....
Yea the plan is to steal the breaks and steering from the 77.. along with the floor plans.. I'm sure mom's first truck had a 292.. like I said non factory... my grandpa her father was good for just shoving stuff together to make it work.. as for newer for towing she won't hear of it... and once I give her the truck I can't tell her what to do with it... I'm thinking the 3.07 rear would make it far less fun to tow with and maybe diswade it us for heavy towing hauling l....
You sound like your capable of doing anything to this truck. Do the upgrades that others have mentioned. Think about going disc brakes all around. Make it a safe truck to drive and use. Don't diminish it's towing capabilities. I'm guessing your mom is a competent standard shift driver and sounds pretty strong willed. Add a 5 speed with O D and leave the stock diff. The Donor with 3.07, I'm guessing had an auto trans and if you use that diff you could go auto trans with OD in the Slick.
53 yrs old, 100 lbs, you Mom sounds like a spitfire no one should mess with. You know her capabilities, let her have some fun. That slick and her driving it is gonna turn some heads, thumbs ups, toot toots and a lotta smiles, especially if shes towing something. Mine took me 10 yrs to put back together, then we loaded up, camper cap on and went to Alaska from CT. gone 80 days. My wife was so sick of me answering and telling about the truck, she'd just walk away and take in all the beauty around. Said I should have a recording to play when people ask.
What's the GVW of slick? Just curious. My D Driver is 7500 lbs, 240 I6, yet a parts truck I bought has 5000 lbs GVW

Not sure of gvw on either will check when home next.. I may need to become a supporter to post pics.. think you guys would like it.. 5spd on a ford fe.. I'm not gonna try that... but it's a thought.. donor was indeed an auto.. big block and c6.. PO kept motor and trans is burned up. if I was going that route I'd go 460/zf5.. but I like the factory fe under the hood...dealer ac installed to boot.. and the 460 just screams haul stuff row with me.. not that an fe won't but her boyfriend would be less apt to try it. He's a 454 fan... hhhahahahah.. ok then so power steering and front disc/352/4spd/3.07 rear... repaint after rust repair, polish and deliver.. sounds easy enough.. thanks fellas...
OR, I rolled past 53 15 years ago, there was quite a few things that I could do then that aint happening today. Ol Arther & Ruma are wacking my joints. I highly recommend rebuilding the C6. It is a stout tranny and combined with the FE should keep mom smiling.

Unfortunately the c6 is from a 460. And finding an auto column for a 66 in neck of the woods is like winning the lottery.. kinda like a 78/79 4spd tilt column..
