I tried ordering one of the new CPS from the local ford dealership. The parts guy wouldnt let me buy it because he didnt know anything about it. He kept telling me that I had to buy the $190 CPS and that he didnt want me waisting my time with this "random part #". I just left and plan on going to another dealer.
I have been running the new one for a few days. Didn't have any probs with the black one. I think it was original, with 152000 miles on it, by the effort it took to get out and the square oring. Anyway, not impressed or depressed with the gray one, just hope it lasts.

IOW, I have tons of money invested in the expensive one. Until I sell it all, I am not going to sell the cheap one and keep the expensive stock.
I tried my local dealer and they had the part number in the system, but would not sell it to me either unless my truck was broke down in thier driveway. That was the dealer code attached to that part number in the computer. I can wait, my truck runs fine with the black one.
One of my local dealers didnt have the part # the other ordered it but its on back order he said probally next week but want real sure of that.tha total was 25 with tax I also ordered the finned diff cover which will take longer toget than the cps.
For those who want it now, don't forget that both dfuser and ford parts have it for shipment, totaling $25-$27 delivered to your door. Here are the links.
Does anyone know? If these new CPS's are compatiable with our F5 Dp tuner chips. I know that Jody's programs are for the black cps and he does not reccommend the blue cps. I am just cautious not to mess with how good my truck runs.
Well, I talked to Diane and she said that when they get the equipment moved, Jody will do some testing on the new CPS since that is going to be a standard that his tunes will have to work on
jrciii...
I attached a quote from aklim's post (#8 from above). It's in the plans for "near future" work, apparently.
I went to a dealer here and they only had the black ones, but they sold me one for 40 bucks, with taxes it came ot about 50. I mentioned the part number to the guy, and he told me the F7TZ-12K073-B part number was for the old one! If i find out that the grey one is better, im going to take this one back and get the grey one. So far i havent really heard anything solid, if one was better then the other.
