Fuel Problem
I finally got my new gas tank in. I went about 12 miles and it dropped from 1/2 tank to 1/4 tank. There is no way it could be that bad on miles per gallon. The tank I put in has a return line and my old tank did not if that changes anything. I just blocked the return line up.

thats not that uncommon to have a part of the tank that shows faster change. There is a float valve that shows resistance to the guage, if the tank has an odd design then the float will drop faster at some point.
Conversely, the float could have been stuck at 1/2 and was freed or you could have a short of some kind in the cluster.

Never trust the gas guage, check it against a gas pump. Your mileage could be that bad, but I kind of doubt it. The return line shouldn't effect it much if at all, however if you eliminated the carbon cansistor system it could effect fuel mileage.
