The doors have never been apart and it has never unlocked by pulling the inside door handle since new, but I bet when it gets home this weekend it'll be apart to see what's up for sure. Actually, neither one of my front doors unlocks from the inside by just pulling the handle. I wonder what's up with that. Anyone have a schematic of the front mechanism so I can compare? Any help is always much appreciated.
Are you sure you dont have a bowtie or rams head on the front of your truck? Just kidding... That's really strange. I've never seen a Ford not unlock the front doors by pulling the inside handle. If I'm not mistaken though my '96 Town Car did auto unlock the doors when I put it in park. Maybe it's a glitch in the way they programmed the control module in your truck. With all this stuff being electronically controlled there are tons of things that can be changed just by programming them. Not the inside handle thing though.
No doors unlock when going from D to P and only two front doors open from inside when pulling handle. In order to open rear doors, I have to hit the unlock switch because they will not open from simply pulling door handle.
I've tried the child swith on the side of the door and it did not work.
I have an 04 CC with electric windows and door locks, and mine do the same thing. They will lock automatically but will not unlock. And I have to hit the switch before anyone in the back can open the door. I have tried the child safety lever in both positions and it does not help this issue. I have finally just disabled the auto door lock feature.
KING & flames64, you guys are spot on with how the doors and locks work.
I just want to clarify the child lock buttons on the rear doors. With the child lock button engaged the rear door Cannot be opened from the inside no matter if it is Locked or Un-locked.
With the child lock buttons disengaged, the rear doors can be opened from the inside only if the door is Un-locked.
