I have an 05 XLT SCAB with a manual rear slider window. Problem is, I can't easily reach it. So, I'd like to replace it with a powerslider.
The knuckleheads at the local dealership gave me a quote of 305 for the part and over a hundred for install, so I'm thinking of trying to find a cheaper part offline and do it myself.
Have any of you done this before? If so, was it very difficult?
Not sure if I'm gonna go that route yet (I'll price some other dealers first), but I'm open to suggestions. I'd love to be able to easily use my rear window again!

From a dealer that price sounds kind of low. A CRLaurence power slider will cost you $300-400. I wonder if they quoted you the manual window.
A hundred or so dollars for labor is almost an hours work in some shops. So if they can do it in less than an hour....
Thats way cheap for a dealer installed factory slider. They might have a source for cheap aftermarket ones. Try calling the parts department and pricing a factory replacement complete assembly. Probably over 1000.00 for the part alone unless the price was reduced drastically recently.
I have found power sliders to be pretty unreliable from the factory though, so you might be just as well off with aftermarket. Factory fits real purty though.

What I find interesting about that, is that if you google that part number for that window it shows as a DC power window accessory kit for about 370.00 or so and the MANUAL privacy glass sliding rear window is another 870.00 or so with another part number....
When I was buying my truck I was looking at one on the lot that had everything I wanted except the power slide. The dealer quoted me $295.00 to add this option. He said it was cost for the part and he would install for free. I ended up finding a truck with the option but your quote sounds about right. Well worth the money to me. In my old SCAB I could barely reach it so I never used it. With the SCREW it would be impossible.
I guess what Im reading into this is that you can have your manual sliding glass converted to electric with the quoted kit and installation. We have never had a customer request one installed so Im just guessing here.
