Hi! O.K. this is my first post on this forum, but your problem sure caught my eye. Before anything else, try the MAP sensor! That's what fixed my similar problem (after I went through many of the other things you mention!). It is the sensor mounted on the A/C blower housing, has an air tube and a wire harness going to it. It's fastened with 2 screws. Just swap it out with one from a friends truck, and see if your problem moves to HIS truck! If it does, a new sensor is about $85 at auto parts. Takes only couple minutes to try it, and youv'e nothing to lose (if youv'e got a good friend). I'd like to hear what happens if you try it!!
haven’t checked the map sensor yet, but i did get fuel pressure readings at load.
no towing, these are just WOT pulls from a stop, and WOT runs on the road. (while trying not to get arrested). <O</O as before, idle and cruising im about 57-58psi. when i punch it it goes to about 48-50 psi.
No, you are supposed to be able to have full fuel pressure at all times. Your fuel delivery has too low of a volume.
It's good enough to maintain the proper pressure, but as soon as fuel demand goes up, like during a WOT pull up a hill, for whatever reason it cannot keep up.
should i be looking @ a new pump? im getting ready to do the intank mods, might those help. i guess ill wait until i get the intank mods and check the pressure again.
Perhaps.
IMO what the real problem in the design is the screen inside the pump gets clogged and needs to be cleaned out. Easier said than done.
Whatever you do, make sure that there is a filter between the fuel pump and the pickup in the tank that is larger than the little tiny thing that is inside the mixing chamber.
alrighty, i just did the intank mods, and took it for a run. no change in fuel pressure but the gauge did look more solid than before. there was little to no wavering of the needle. which hopefully means that i got some air out of the fuel.
but the pressure still drops about 10 psi when i punch it.
anyway to test the pump? good recommendationsfor a replacement? stock or upgrade?
