I bought by 1995 bronco about a year ago, and now i'm tired of getting stuck because the auto hubs won't lock in without the vehicle being able to roll. I want to convert to the warn premiunm manual hubs, but since my factory hubs are held on by the 3 bolts, instead of the 5 i have to have a conversion kit. I am 19 years old, and i can handle simple maecanicing tasks, but i am not sure what i am getting into by doing this myself . Will i need any special tools to do the conversion? Any advise or comments will be greatly appreciated.
jon, regard. the number of screws. Iwas told recently it didn't matter the number..I have 5...and was told I too needed the conversion kit. Macromotive.com ok prices but no shipping or handling charges unlike 4 wheel parts.
you'll need a set of dentist like picks to get a ring out and snap ring pliers to I think get another retaining ring out. Cheap at teh auto stores. I too am a novice mechanic, but i'm going to try as alot of people have done these and they all say it's easy. do a search here and at the Off-road.com forum. Alot of info on the web!
I had same prob w/96 Bronco auto hubs..warn prem is best according to the consensus here (w/conver kit)

I saw the Ford hub socket for $10.00 in e bay and up to 20.00 at local parts store. also in whitney's as the prev posted said.
i have a good set of snap ring pliers w/diff tips but they don't work as well as the dental picks..wal mart has the picks..bought mine at a flea market for 1.00 each from the tool man.
also, think about:
wheel bearing greasing/insp
brake cleaner for the brakes and insp
what else?
