Tranny teaching procedure
I unplugged the batts to work on the stereo system.
From what I understand the tranny needs to go through the teaching process.
What happens if the trany does not properly do the teaching procedure?
Will it make a diffrence after a while? from what i understand it is just shifting up/down slowly.

Here is the link to the re-learning strategy from the "Tech" folder

Hope this helps
I know the procedure, I just wanted to know if it is THAT important to do it.
I already drove the truck around a bit, and wanted to know if it is crucial to unplug the batt again and do ot from the beginning.

As hotroddsl said, no big deal, just drive it and it will learn. TCM & PCM are constantly learning and adapting to your changing driving style and load.
If you read the first two lines of the link i posted, it says
"TorqShift Harsh/Slipping Engagements, Upshifts, and/or Downshifts:
If these symptoms are experienced after the batteries have been disconnected, then it is due to the transmission adaptive strategy being cleared from the computer."
So if you are experiencing "Harsh/Slipping Engagements, Upshifts, and/or Downshifts, then you can do the "Re-learning Strategy" to fix the problem quickly or you can just drive it and it will fix itself. Unless you are romping the snot out of your truck with the tranny slipping or hunting, you are not going to hurt anything.
Drive your truck like you stole it and relax.
Hope this helps

My wife and I just came back from a vacation/tour in Israel. I'm happy to report that the F350 is the official pickup truck of the Israeli Army! We saw several olive drab F350 pickups, and no Chebbies or Dodge's in similar service.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
1st of all thanks for the replies, my truck drives normally so i guess no point in doing anything.
as for the SD in Israel, for the past few years. only the IDF was allowed to import F-350 (I guess that we score points for buying USA made stuff for gov issues - they bough a few thousand units and stuck an ugly cab/box on the bed).
As for the cevillian dealer, he didn't find a good enough reason to import them.
In the last year or so, there were a few tax regulation changes, that made it cheaper for anyone that is a buissness to but a vehical that is over 4 Tons overall weight (8800 Lbs), so both Ford and Chevrolet started to import.
unfortunatly for me, Ford tried to cut down the price, so they only bring the XL, though packed with things that are not avaliable fot the XL in the catalog, such as cruise control, power windows, electric mirrors, CD, etc.
the funny thing is that today, when i go to the dealer for service, the receptionist insists that I give her the truck's MIL number... can't grasp the fact the I Fu%#'n own the truck and dont have a MIL number...
