In need of help, I have a 88 bronco 302 with the EEC IV. Now my problem is I am not getting any heat, I have changed the water pump, the thermostat, and the heater core is only a year old. I tried covering the radiator, that heated up the motor but still gave me no heat. I also tried disconnecting the return heater hose and noticed that the coolant flow out of the heater core was only filling the tube about half full if that and no pressure. I don't know if this is normal or not but doesn't look right to me. I would appreciate any suggestions as the temperature is is getting very cold.
Thank's.
maybe with the serpentine belt, the pump rotates the other way and you have the wrong pump! also check the hoses to the core. are they getting warm at all? if so, you are at least getting circulation.
There should be a valve somewhere in the heater hose that shuts the water off. Check both heater hoses from engine to firewall. With the engine running and the heater set to hot, check and see if the vacuum line is supplying good suction to it, if it is you can get a replacement valve from most any parts store. If there is no vacuum, then start checking the vacuum lines for cracks etc. Sometimes a small vacuum leak is a real headache to find. You could also remove it and use a connector or piece of copper pipe for a temporary fix but next summer when the heater does not shut off, you'll be at the other end of the boat
I would like to thank everyone for their input. I think I have it solved at least for now, I'm not sure exactly what it was. Took the heater core out and filled it partially with CLR and water and then flushed it out really good with water, there was particles of something that did come out of it. Also I noticed that there was a little ice by the temperature control door. I'm not sure if it was one or the other or a combination of both?
I never did find that control valve the only thing I could find is some kind of sensor or switch, one of my core hoses comes out of the core and T,s off to a smaller hose that runs up the intake by were the butterfly's are and back down, and both the heater hose and that one is connected to a tube that stick's up off of the block right behind the thermostat housing and right under were both hoses connect to the tube is the switch or sensor, it has a big black plug with two wires running into the plug and that is connected to this switch or sensor. Anyone have any ideas what this might be?
Thank's again I really appreciate everyone's input.
