Has anyone on here purchased the stock muffler delete pipe from Pure Diesel Power? As like many of you, I can't afford to drop the coin on a 5" cannon right now and would like to do something in the mean time.
Any info would be appreciated.
There are some muffler shops that are starting to carry 5in pipe. Just take it there pay for there service. I got a delete pipe installed and a 5 to 6 inch tip for $115. Hard to beat that.
I just took mine to local muffler shop and had a delete pipe installed. He did a great job and it is not too loud as I was afraid of and it definetely flows better. $100.00 bucks. MB
When I first bought my truck, I did just as these guys did. I had the local muff shop weld me me up a piece and I bought a 6inch Silverline tip. $120 out the door, the tip was the most expensive thing.
Thanks for the input.
I just did my buddies 97 f250, bought the pipe and welded her in. Looking at my 03 f350, the pipe enters the muffler at the bottom and exits out the top making a straight piece of pipe not the easiest install. The one from PDP says it is mandrel bent and fits right in place.
The local muffler shops around here are a little on the not so bright side from the phone calls that I have made to talk to them about doing this, so I am looking for an easier way of doing it than through them.
Thanks again for all of your input.
for everyone who has responded to this post that has done the delete.
going by the seat of your pants dyno can you tell anything has been changed? or is this just mostly a sound mod?
i mostly have noticed more sound, and maybe just a hint more power, noticed it more on the highway when passing, but who knows, could just be a mental thing

all you have to do is loosen the clamp on the bottom pipe and grind off the little tab or button on the joint and then i used a big pair of slip joint pliers and turned the pipe 180 deg and the upper pipe and lower pipe are darned near a straight shot at eachother.

I didn't even think about that.... I will have to order me a section of pipe and do it. Thanks for the info.

If I recall correctly, the piece of pipe in front of the muffler can be loosened at the clamp and rotated 180* to make a straight piece of pipe fit right in. I considered that route before I went with the SS MBRP a couple months ago, so it's been a while since I looked at the stock stuff...
