I'm installing a VDO tach on my 78 w/a 351W. On the negative side of the coil, there's a green wire that runs to the trucks brain box. Do I splice my tach onto this wire?
What I do is using a connector and hit right on the coil if have the plug on it I just rap the wire around the post and snap the plug back on the coil. Worked great on my 79F150
Intalled the tach but I'm not sure if it is operating properly. Says I Idle around 800 RPM which sounds right. I have not changed my driving style, the tach tells me I shift between 2-3 grand. At what the tach says is three grand really sounds like I'm pushing it, it wont rev much higher. I thought a V8 should redline around 5 grand (my mustang redlines at 5500) Is this something to do w/the trans?
