Thought struck me today that we could add flag holders to each front corner of the 'roo guard, and a big one in the center of the roll bar. I know flags sure caught my eye when I was in the military!
Perhaps we could put a small checkered flag on the corners, and a bigger American flag in the center holder - or even a state flag.
Also, how about the lettering on the vehicle? Do we have someone who can do truck lettering? What should we post?
What color should we make the truck? I like the candy apple red bottom and off white above the belt line it is now, but maybe someone will want a different color.
What ever we do we will want to use common paint that can be resprayed by anyone should the truck get scratched up.
I know it is an off-road vehicle, and will be used in mud events - but I would like to also use it in parades and shows to show off our chapter. Just parking it in the street at Hot August Nights should get us some response.
I know a lady that does some serious lettering, I forget what it's called that she did for us (our weddnig invitations) but she's a real artist with a brush and can do many styles of lettering.
You still talking to people who helped get you married?
It is called calligraphy, and much more than we need. Mostly letters used to be airbrushed on, but now you can do it on your computer and print it out, and then cut the paper into a stencil.
My dad used to be a professional sign painter, he lettered all my race cars (and quite a few for other racers at my track) and I can do a little of it myself. I'm not very good at the free-hand lettering that he does, but I can do some layout and detail work.
I was thinking about the flags, and remembered the signal flags we used in the Navy (yes, I was in before we had satellite communications, and the old radios we used were not that dependable, plus sometimes you do not want to broadcast your location.)
Maybe we could find some in a surplus store for our mudder truck. The ones that sound good for our truck are the letters A, K, T, and U.
I, of course like the U flag best, maybe then the T flag for the other side. It would be an inside joke as there are not 1 in a million people who can read flags anymore.
We also could use the flags F and U - but why go out of our way to be offensive!
