I decoded your VIN in another thread...the 4th digit is an H which is a 351M, not a 400. If it was a 400, the 4th digit would be an S.

Rod length is the same between 351M and 400.
Only the crank throw and pistons are different.
(taller pistons on the 351 to make up for the shorter stroke)

The engine in my truck,, a 400, was all rusty from sitting for a short time,,8 months! But a little heat from driving it, and a power wash to get the mud from the occasional romps in the pit cleaned it off nicely. Now, instead of having flaky rust chips, it looks like normal surface corrosion which is easy to get rid of with a good wire brush/ wheel!

TIP:
For a little different look, don't just use ONE color. I started with a silver base on my intake and heads, then lightly dusted with a red, and finally dusted with a Ford blue. Came out rather nice if you ask me!
Just a thought though,,,
