I'm fixin' to drop 460/rv cam, 30k miles in my '72 longbed. just wonderin what kind of hp and torque these engines have. It feels pretty stout in the 3/4 ton it is in right now. I want a lot of power, but i am sure anything will satisfy me over the 35 yo 302-2bbl/3on the tree.
im not shure on hp numbers but the 60 will have alot more torque then the 302.i hope you got a bellhousing or different trans a 60 wont bolt up to a 302 bell.just be prepaired to pass everything but a gas station about 15mpg is all youll get if you keep your foot out of it
ya, i am puttin in th 4spd that came with my 3/4 ton. another ?, putting in a hydraulic clutch in place of manual clutch, easier to install master cylinder, (such as i did on my 4x4 when converting form auto to standard) or can i just change the clutch fork to make the manual clutch work?
the block and heads are the same year as far as i know. it is coming outta my '85 3/4 ton, but the guy i bought that from said it came out of a wrecked winnebago with 30k miles. he also had the odometer outta the winnebago to prove the mileage, the engine definitely looks pretty new. however, i didn't get a year model on the bagel. it is carbed tho, so it's probably 85 or older.
There is a # on the heads on the exhaust side. Also the block # is on the block behind the starter. I would put in a '72 or earlier timing chain, the later ones retard the cam 4 degrees.
