Snickers hates thunderstorms. He will wrap around your head if he is in the bed when a storm hits. If you stop him before he gets to your head he goes under the covers & hides from the storm. Sam doesn't seem to notice storms. Heis still a puppy & will play right through a storm.
Mine used to freak out. She would want to get under something and then sit there and shake in fear. I got this stuff called Rescue Remedy to calm her nerves (and mine too sometimes). It tastes like flowers mixed with alcohol. It really did seem to work. I used it for a few months and she would calm down pretty well. Now we've stopped using it because she doesn't freak out anymore. She looks at me when there is loud thunder, but that's about it. It was either that or her diet, possibly both, but the stuff does calm your nerves.
Both of my dogs try to get as close to me as they possibly can whenever there is a loud noise like thunder. Kinda interesting at night, when I wind up with two 65lb dogs trying to sleep on my head.
Josie my older black lab mix could care less. Wylee who is a black lab mix, could care less as long as he is inside. Sammy the beagle barks at everything just to hear her own voice.
If they happen to be outside Sammy and Wylee will stand at the gate and whine. If they get rained on they really freak out. Josie on the other hand loves the rain, she'll roll around in the mud and run around like a idiot.
The dog I have now isn't bothered by much that I have seen but my lab Casey that I had before Chyna would go and hide in the shower when ever a storm was coming in.When he got older he would do the same thing when fireworks were going off.
My little pup didnt know what to think. He raised his head when the thunder hit, whined a bit, then returned to licking himself. Storm didnt seem to bother him much.
I just got a German Shephard pup last week. I started a loader she was sleeping under and all she did was look up to make sure I was still there. I use impact guns right by her and she doesn't even flinch. I don't think a thunderstorm is going to bother her.
