I have a 95. If I have my tailgate window open when I start my truck, it goes up automatically. I have not opened up the back yet. I am waiting for warmer weather because I want to rust proof the inside. Does anyone out there know where I look to find the switch that does that?
the gate also has 2 "interlocks", to be sure the gate is closed before the window is rolled down..wonder if they are out of adjustment?...try slamming the gate closed..with window DOWN and see if it still rolls up when you turn eng. on....usually the left side is out of adjustment
or, the rear key switch - right inside the tailgate..behind the key..wonder if it is shorted out or jumpered by a prev owner??? or if the dash gate sw. is shorted or jumpered...
did you buy this bronco new or just bought it?.....this is interesting.
also, many have discussed t/g fixes here..use the search feature on this forum and search for tail..gate..window...etc.
some www sites too:http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/gear/40/tailgate.html

includes much Big bronco info~~
Thanks for the reply. I did buy the truck used. It almost seems as though it was ment to do this. Everything works fine. The dash and tailgate key work.
Just off the subject a bit, do you think the rust proffing the tail gate will help ? Is this an idea of your own, is there tech info some place ? I Like it !
Ok, keep the t/g hinge area clean of gunk, and the vents at the bottom. Open the inner access panel and try to clean any gunk in the bottom. Some use spray/brush-on rubberized undercoating or a product named "Krown". Open up any clogged vents after using this stuff or the undercoating.
And keep the weatherstripping up, this is the primary source of dirt and gunk seeping through to the innards. I keep the rear window clean as much as I can and wipe the strips down with soapy water.
I bought the top half strips from a nce dude in WV, but I believe he is not in bus anymore..his prices were better than lmc, mil suply, etc and he would go and get nos stuff for my 78.
here is a great www site for t/g replacement...

Thanks to Dustin!!!!!!!!!!
No prob, I did it so others would have some idea of what to expect inside a Bronco tailgate. Now if I only had time to get around to re-doing and updating the rest of my site. I have videos, lots of pics, and a couple write-ups on doing a suspension lift and body work.

Nice going Dustin!
and 93Bronco, thanks..I have a lot of time now to log in and help out with posts and research. Unfortunately, some problems are diff to help out with. I try to suggest the easiest and cheapest way to fix things, other than taking it back to a dealer or a repair shop.
However, many others here have done these jobs more recently than I have and have web sites and pics to help out, like Dustin and MyBigBronco
