Some of them had a fuel economy light hooked up to a vacuum switch that turned the light on when your foot got heavy. I personally have never seen a fuel level light but they may have had them outside of the USA.

you know it is a fuel light economy light that stays on all the time you think there is a vacuum hose not connected somewhere.

Check with NumberDummy to see if he has a picture of the part. Dennis/Mil1ion may have a wiring diagram that shows the switch also.

I do not know if it is screwed directly into the manifold then connected with one wire or if it is connected by a vacuum hose and wired with two wires.

At least if you can find a wiring diagram you can disconnect the wire to turn the light off. Other than that you could pull the bulb.

I have one of the gage clusters with a fuel economy light but I have never seen one hooked up.

The Low fuel economy light gets its power through the special printed circuit.

They replaced the "Fasten Seatbelt" light with the Low Fuel Economy light on some clusters.

This is the only reference I can find about the light.

The part referenced is the lens that covers the warning light.

This is the wiring harness it mentions.

An ordinary vacuum gage is MUCH better than the idiot light.

I've got a vacuum gauge of both of my trucks, but I still think the light would be cool.
