I've been thinking about making a set of LED tail lights out of the factory lenses for my 70 F100. Has anyone attempted this before? Just wondering if someone else has done this before I get too far ahead of myself.
What wizzard is talking about is a simple bulb with the standard bayonet mount that replaces the 1157 tail/brakelight bulb, no modifications required, just plug it in:
True but all this does is create a small LED "patch" in the middle of the lense. I'm looking to make one that covers the whole lense. The same way the Cadillacs are made.
1970cutsom, the prices on that website are WAY lower than what Radio Shack wants for LEDs. Thanks for showing me the website. I just might enlist their "inventory".
Gonna try the same for buildin a set of side markers on my 67. Bed markers are no prob, can use a set off 70-72. But the front ones are gonna be a little more tricky. Need to mill out the section of the hood emblem that has the 100 in it, cut a piece of orange reflector to fit in it, and put in LEDs... I know LMC already has the hood emblems w/reflectors... but I hate to go cuttin on a new 140.00 set of em...
Keep us posted on how the LEDs work out.... sounds cool...
