I am thinking about the Donohoe 2" leveling kit that I found at the Off Road Warehouse web site. The part number is 3-2000. Has anyone tried this? According to my mechanic -- who has not tried the kit -- the concept looks reasonable as does the install. Would like to talk to one who has one running one. I hope not to mess with the rear suspension, except I may put on air springs, but planned on doing that anyway. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the reply. Did you do anything to the back. I measured mine at 39.5" in the back and 37.5" in the front. I am betting that the 2" kit is not not really 2". So even loaded in the back it should still be level. How did it affect alignment and ride? Any vibrations? Thanks again.
It makes the X sit too high in the front. the kit is designed for F250/350 that sit high in the rear. the X sits almost level from the factory. the guy at work put a 2" kit on his and it looked goofy! when he had the plow on the front end was level.
You need to add a short block to the back, 2" or so, it's been good so far, rides like stock Ex. I have 295-75-16's on stock rims with very slight rubbing on spring when at full lock, acceptable though. My Ex was not even close to level stock, it was way nose down, drove me nuts.
I have the 2" mini spring pack also. I installed it first and the front end was too high compared to the rear. The next day I installed the ~4" tapered F250/350 rear block and took out the OEM 2" block. I am extremely happly with everything. They match well with 285 tires. I was albe to install all myself, not too bad.
I installed the leveling kit and the EX looks good. About 1/4" lower in the front, but hey depending on how you look at the tape measure front and rear are the same -- 39 3/4" in rear and 39 1/5" in front. Stand back and look and it seems level. Front not too high. Perhaps PSD and extra battery, etc makes a difference. A V-10 may sit higher. All this being said, I also purchased the Firestone Air Springs for the rear so when it is loaded with stuff and trailer, the EX will not be front-high. Have not installed them yet. Empty, the Donohoe kit leveled my PSD EX to a real good look. I recommend the product.
i sold the kit to a cust. about a month ago, he has not drove it in so i can see it, nor has he complanied about it yet so that is good news, for less than $200.00 it is a good kit.
