Reverse Sensing System (RSS) Problems

Problem started (probably coincidental) after replacing the multi-function switch in my 2002 Excursion. The dash switch "off" indicator remained light from the moment the vehicle was put in reverse. I noticed the reverse lamp was not functioning and replaced. Now the RSS will function properly as long as I apply the brake, but as soon I release the brake the RSS "off" indicator illuminates and the RSS system is non-functional and subsequent applications of the brake toggles the RSS system. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you didnt pinch any of the wires in the column on reassembly after putting in the multi-function? The wiring in these columns has been known to get in the way of moving parts some times, especially after servicing has been performed and things get moved around a bit.

I agree with Johnny. Look for pinched wires, maybe the wire is shorting, check connector, wires going into connector. when you find it let us know
