no thermostat

my 94 5.8 runs quite hot in the summer, expecially when the a/c is running.usually when your stuck in traffic. is there a problem with running no thermostat just for the summer? or should I be addressing some other issues?

That sounds like a bad radiator or water pump to me. Running no thermostat it will never run at the right temp and will likely cause poor mileage.

I had a clutch going bad on a clutch fan once that caused it to run hotter... more in traffic than normal driving......and the A/C cycled on and off almost constantly from the hi-temp shutoff.
If you aren't running low on coolant all the time probly no leaks......then flush your radiator and put in a new thermostat and see if it gets any better.
If not.....you might want to replace the fan clutch.
Good Luck
