On the passengerside plastic wheel well housing is a small fan enclosed in a black metal housing. It's used to cool off the fuel injectors/fuel rail after you shut the engine off. The fan only comes when a certain temp. is reached and when the engine is shut off..
Ahh yes the good ol Coffee Can, yeah my brother always makes fun of that on our truck. It really does look just like a rusty old coffee can someone cobbed up in there to do something. It has something to do with the emissions, I think its some kind of carbon filter or something. Definatly dont quote me on that one though, but its definatly supposed to be there.
Thanks guys you have to forgive as the truck is older than i am its an 88 and i wasnt born until may of 89. and my first 2 trucks came from the dark sides. (86 Chevy, 92 Dodge) and i just thought it was weird. but i did find that even though i liked the chevy and dodge. they just cannot compare to this damn ford... now i know why everybody's always so crazy about them ford trucks
