Unhappy ok I'm an idiot

what is that noise on my 1988 Ford F150 I-6 after i turn it off. it sounds like some kind of fan. but when i open the hood nothing is moving. it doesn't bother me but i've heard up to like 20-30 mins after i shut the truck off. none of my other ford products do this. and i am curious if this is going to run down my better

On the passengerside plastic wheel well housing is a small fan enclosed in a black metal housing. It's used to cool off the fuel injectors/fuel rail after you shut the engine off. The fan only comes when a certain temp. is reached and when the engine is shut off..

that is the vacuum canister.

if you do not have one, go out and get a manual.

it will help you for many years.

Ahh yes the good ol Coffee Can, yeah my brother always makes fun of that on our truck. It really does look just like a rusty old coffee can someone cobbed up in there to do something. It has something to do with the emissions, I think its some kind of carbon filter or something. Definatly dont quote me on that one though, but its definatly supposed to be there.

Thanks guys you have to forgive as the truck is older than i am its an 88 and i wasnt born until may of 89. and my first 2 trucks came from the dark sides. (86 Chevy, 92 Dodge) and i just thought it was weird. but i did find that even though i liked the chevy and dodge. they just cannot compare to this damn ford... now i know why everybody's always so crazy about them ford trucks
