The 428 Police Interceptor had the cast iron block and heads of the stock 428, but featured an aluminum intake manifold, thicker main-bearing supports, caps, webs, extra ribs and heavier duty connecting rods.
this is all i could find on this motor, if there was more, i'm sure someone will jump in.
Posted this same question up in the engine forum for FE engines. Hopefully get some info. Now if I could only find a big block toploader and the necessary pedals and linkages to do a 4 speed conversion on my 70 Mustang.
Some parts for the old Mustangs is hard to find, especially round here. Some is being reproduced and some parts aren`t.
E-Pay might be worth a shot.
I did have a shifter assembly for a 70 but sold it 6-7 years ago.
Ya, I know....
I also had 2 sets of mint 69 factory Mach I wheels complete with trim rings and centre caps, nos front spoiler, nos gas cap and a bunch of other nos goodies laying around.
At that time a friend of mine had a 69 V8 coupe in fairly nice rust free shape for $6,000 and I didn`t bite. Now he wants MORE for it!
I hope this isnt a dumb question but when we go out to this guys place how do we know if its a 428 engine, let alone an interceptor. We took down some block casting numbers from the www
Casting numbers is the only way I think, the 428 looks like any other FE block. I don`t know much about 428`s, Ford`s cating numbers system was very confusing.
I have Ford engine books so if you need anything more I can possibly find it for you.
