a couple things... at least 2 of these wingnuts were part of the so called "rescue" of refugees from Kosovo in the previous admin. fort dix was the center of the influx, and the base for the "rescued" to find family through the net.
3 were straight up illegal. i watched the news all yesterday, last night and today and i'm sick and frigging tired of hearing it was a "home grown cell". i'm home grown, most of us here are home grown, and the few that aren't, i'll bet are grateful to be here.
no illegal, can by definition, be part of a "home grown cell".
this is a straight up attempt to minimize the busting of these freaks, it's a way to minimize just how important for bystanders to report suspicious behavior and how important it is to look over your shoulder.
there appears to be TOO many people that think the calendar is reset to 9/10/01

Good post, Carl. Something that needs to be addressed, that I'm afraid wil go unchecked, is the fact that these people are steadfast in their hatred of all things that are NOT the same as them. They come to our country, refuse to assimilate (like the rest of our ancestors did) and, if that isn't enough, they expect our country to cowtow to them- by allowing them their religious freedom, and disallowing anyone else to have theirs (foot washing basins in KC International airport for the muslim cab drivers... on the government's dime). We have become a nation of weaklings! We are the most tolerant of nations, yet it never seems to be enough! I'm afraid that they won't stop pushing until we are all forced to listen to "A Call To Prayer" played over a loud speaker 5 times a day. By then it will be too late to turn back the clock.
Sorry if this borders on the political, it really scares me, though.

yet we called serbia the enemy. they knew perfectly well what will happen if they let these idiots on thier door step. already over there, there are radical groups coming in and operating under the protection force there. its not like serbia can take military action against them.

i guarentee when all protection forces leave, the combat will start up again, and it will start by bombing campaigns occuring in serbia.

the US, EU, and the UN should have kept their nose out of serbia's business.

LIME isn't hard to come by.

There again, there are catfish out there big enough to swallow most anything.

But now - the essential problem IS that they got here.

HOW?

And how do we change that. It's all fine and good to complain and point out things that are wrong, but what is needed is a solution that really makes sence and does not disrupt everything. (or at least as little as possible)

How can we accomplish POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION without all the BIG BROTHER crap, and without being obviously intrusive?

It looks like a no winner. THAT DOG CAN'T HUNT.

The terms of the argument are mutually exclusive. We don't want to seem like a GESTAPO state, but we can't afford to be killed by outsiders with harmful intentions.

I think that we have the reverse of **** GERMANY here - it is plainly obvious that people are coming here to damage us. But we don't use the means required to keep ourselves safe.

Or in either case - whatever means we have under developement is not fully online yet.

we have the perfect means to protect our selves without big brother rules. they just need to enforce the rules they have now.

i rather have the chance of something happening than have some big brother state though.

the term homegrown in security just means that the people had their own internal agenda and own self sufficiency without outsides means.

if this group was getting funds or were purposely sent here on the agenda from another country, then it would not be home grown.

since everything they did originated and was implemented on this soil, then it is considered homegrown.

it is not very important at all for the general public the difference, but for the different agencies it is important to know.

they may claim they were part of an international agenda, but that claim is more idealogical than operational.

Concerning this bust... a gal over on Gather.com...another forum... posted an article about how one of these guys is a neighbor and his younger brother is her son's good friend.

I won't go into detail, but the response from her liberal friends was as expected. She allowed her son to run right over there and offer support to his friend. Sympathy to the max to the family, etc. And a few responders who weren't so sympathetic.

Here's a link to the article if anyone else wants to be ill.

that woman is an idiot.

not middle easterner's geographically, but mentality in the current state affairs they are. yes, they are from eastern europe, but they are not europeans. no way would i ever compare albanians to europeans, they are the left over trash from the ottoman days.

sure the family may be innocent and blah blah blah, but who knows, they could have very well known what was going on also, or maybe they suspected but chose to be naive towards it.

i don't beleive in persecuting the family over a members stupidity, a lot of us have relatives we rather not have.

the difference between these guys and the VT shooter? ideologies, that is something that you can't lock up or kill.
