Some Broncos came stock with 31x15.50's on them. Those fit fine without any problems. I have heard of people running 33's, but those probally rub under tight turns and suspension flex
I have the 32x11.50 bfg m/t's and love them. they do how ever rub the radius rods when turning full. other that they have cleared the fenders for most of my wheeling so far
I have a 92 and i put BFG mudder 32x11.5 on factory rims and they rubbed the radius arm at full turn. I added a 4" procomp lift and they still rubbed. I think the only way to get away from it is with offset rims.
LAST EDITED ON 01-Feb-01 AT 07:47 AM (EST)[p]Since your 87 may have some spring sag, 31's as the guys here have suggested are prob your best bet...check out each potential tire's actual diameter w/right air pressure to be sure..tread width makes a differece too!
I have 32x11.50's on my 96, had to adj the driver's side bumper up a bit and trim off the plastic air dam there a bit.
here is a neat www site for big bronco faq's..has tire info sizes too.
http://www.off-road.com/ford/bigbroncos/bbfaq.html#2
Also, the Goodyear tire site shows their tire sizes for a comparison; here is the GY site for the MTR brand with sizes:
http://www.goodyear.com/us/tires/tirecatalog/WRLMTRSize.html
And some 31's and most 32's will change your odometer and speedo readings..about 6 mph. I guess you have a diy speedo gear change and you can get those little gears (color coded) from Ford or local tranny/tire/off road places. I believe you need to know your 235's actual tire diameter before you throw them out so the dealer will know which gear to give you for the tire size and brand you choose to use. Mine need a comp adjustmt at fore for $100.00..e4od shifts better now with the adjustment (96 bronco)Good luck!
I have an 86 bronco and i just put 33x10.50 from BFG T/A. They are an expsive tire but are nice. They just rub the radius arm at full turn. i just put a 3" body lift so i dont know what they do at full flex.
hopefully by now you have new tires onner. but I have a 95 EB 302 with stock rims no lift. changed out 235 15 75 to a 265 15 75. sized them up to the 31 10s and there about the same hight and width. saved about 20 a tire. got new tires thanks to firestone. so it only cost me for 4 new tires 40$ to upgrade in size.
I had a 1991 bronco and with standard off set 15X10 wheel i ran 33x12.5 BFG mud ta's with out any rubbing at full turn I did have alil rubbing on the chrome fender trim but nothing a dremmel could'nt take care of
