Question Projector Headlights for Superduty...

I was just wondering...I have been seeing on e-bay these "projector headlight" assemblies...After an extensive search of the web I am only able to see what the assembly looks like and NOT what they actually look like on the truck! They look pretty cool from what I can tell and I'm leaning towards buying some...Any of you guys have these things on you rig? If so, would ya mind giving me a little info on them? the websites are vague at best !

Thanks guys !

Scott

CobraGT40,

If you are talking about HID replacements, they are illegal on the Highway and are for off road use only.

Here is a recent thread on the subject and in post #12 he has a link to the conversion he did.

Hope this helps

I have a set of the projector style lights on my 2000 F250 crew cab. These aren't the "HID" lights, they use standard bulbs, I chose to put the blue style. The lights look GREAT on the truck, but are basically cheaply built, and the beam adjustment was a pain. My particular style light is made from APC I believe?? Seperate lights for hi/lo beams, with a built in fog light with seperate switch in the cab. I can email pics if you like. Overall I am happy now with the lights, but installation definitely wasn't easy!

just wondering if you got the pics I emailed of my truck with the lights on it, I would post here, but they are too big and I've got no clue how to shrink them so they will upload on this site haha

I'll check once I get home, outta town right now. But they use the standard size bulb, I just chose to go with the blue colored ones. The fog lights aren't offered in a blue bulb though, unless there's something I haven't discovered?

I believe HID's are only illegal if they don't have a self leveling mechanism..
But don't quote me on that.

In the US, HID lights are illegal unless they came installed as original equipment on your vehicle. Read the links in my earlier posts for the info.

Hope this helps

Yes you're right, even doin a complete retrofit like I did is illegal. But as long as you do it right, you should not run into any problems. Do an HID kit in stock reflectors and I would say there is a decent chance you will get pulled over for it.
