300 Exhaust

300 Exhaust

Does anyone know what would sound best for exhuast on a 4.9 300? I want a deep powerful sound. I would love to run true duals, but that wouldn't sound good since it's 3 cylinders in each. I was thinkink just a 40 series flowmaster muffler with duals after that.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with a good sounding exhaust for this engine....Thanks!

I have had a thrush turbo muffler on it and it was ok. I have also had thrush glass pack on it. it sounded a little better, for some reason it did not give off that famed popping noise or rumble, but on accle. it was a little deeper than the turbo.

Ok cool, I will give those a look too...

It sounds like you just don't get the same exhaust volumes from the 300 as you would the 351...which of course makes sense.

I-6 have a noticable different sound to them.

I have a Flowmaster 40 running to dual 4 1/4in big rig pipes and it sounds damn meaty, esp in lower gears.

I had a walker downpipe installed. This deleted the cats, then I put in a high-flow single cat, and ran that back to a flowpro muffler and y'ed out over the axle to 3"x18" chrome thunder tips. Sounded like a truck should. Nice rumble at idle, mean under accel, and if you downshifted it right you would get the crackle/pop of a glass pack.
