Has anyone tried the new Livewire yet and if so how would you rate it? Ihave an '05 f150 5.4 and I am considering buying one as I really need more power (hehehe). The on-board readout would be a real plus because the truck is an XL and only has the speedo for a real gauge. The rest of them are just dummy sensors. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
There were a couple guys in the 6.0L forum that tried them and were not happy to say the least. SCT was also giving them a hard time about warranty and stuff like that. Luckily they bought them off a sponsor here who gave them their money back and got so upset with SCT that they sent all of thier livewires back. I would personally suggest staying away from them, at least for now. Maybe in the future they will get the bugs figured out.
Thanks for the info. Not really sure what to do at this point, have heard a few negatives about the edge and heard alot of good about the Xcal ll. Had talked to Troyer and was going to buy from them with some custome settings for my truck, as that is what I'd like to get intsead of the canned tunes from say the Edge, but man is the price high on the Livewire which is the Xcal ll's version of the Evolution from what Troyer tells me. Wonder if they'd work better with a gas engine like a 5.4 instead of a diesel. Well the price of the evo is alot better than the livewire even though they hiked the price of the Edge up. thanks again
The livewire also looked much bigger than I thought it would be. I think it was something like 4"x6", much bigger then the Edge. I also think the Edge looks better, that's why I'm looking into getting the MSD Dashhawk for guages in my truck.
Just wondering, have you asked this question in the 5.4L V-8 or F150 forums to see what answers you get there?

I have not but that is a good idea and I will do that, thanks. And your right about the size of the livewire, it's 7x4 to be exact, I had the folks at Troyer measure it for me. The Edge is either 4x3 or 4x2, I can't exactly remember what they told me but the Edge is smaller and comes with the pod which looks better. Haven't heard much about the Dashawk. Thanks again Beerstalker.
It wasn't the programming or function of the Livewire--the screens turned blue after about a month. I got to test one of the first ones and it was really close to my dyno numbers. I would wait until SCT gets the bugs lined out with the screens before I tried one.
Is the livewire the same as the xcal but with a display?
From what Troyer Perfomance tells me, yes. But your paying a heavy extra for the display. I'm going to call them back up and find out if I can get the display for it at a later date, though I doubt it.
I'm very interested in the SCT for my 6.0.
Using the livewire or even the Xcal2 .. I would really like the added feature of a software mod in the unit to back down the 'tune' if the egt gets above a pre-determend point, say...1200 deg.

Does it exsist?
Have no idea. Call Troyer Porformance, you can link up to them from this site and get phone number. Very informative people over there. Hope this helps, good luck.
