I read somewhere in the web that the Rangers have a cut off max speed limit control by the ECU, at 90mph Is this true?
If it's true, we better check our speed before passing cars on the hwy, you might come up short when passing at 85mph
It's not 90 MPH in my Ranger I know...I did 90ish the whole way to and from Austin a month or so ago.
I want to say it's 96 or 98 MPH for my truck, but I can't really tell you since the speedo ends at 85...
Pretty much every modern computer controlled vehicle is speed limited. Even such performers as the Lightning have a speed control on them.
Here's proof that the 3.0 is not slow for all those 3.0 bashers!!

I don't think the 3.0 i'ts slow, it's just powerless for a v6.
most small compact 4 cyl cars out there can run 100mph, but the real test is when these trucks are under load, or working the grade.
Did I mention the pinging problems these Rangers have when under load?
Pushing the gas pedal to the metal going downhill it's cheating :>)
I know mine caps at 97. My friends speedo says so that was driving next to me. I've plenty happy with the power of my little wee-6. I've actually hit the speed limiter going up a grade before! Of course that was in 4th gear tho, I tried 5th and it held for about 5 seconds then slowed down on its own.
