v-10 Problem

My mileage is down and i cant figure out why. Last summer i was getting 480 per a tank which is roughly 11 to 12 average. For some reason, i don't know why, but im getting 380 per a tank. Today I filled up and now im getting 350. It seems to be dropping. Ive never changed the spark plugs before and it has a 103,500 miles on the orig ones. Also i can tell the IAC vavle is going because it likes to idle rough like 3 times a week. Could thops becausing the mileage drops? 350 on a 44 gallon tank is like 7.5 to 8 mpgs. What do you guys think is wrong?

I also posted this in the Excursion forum to.

You definately need the plugs changed. You also need a fuel filter and the rest of the basic tune-up things done. Lack of proper maintenence will cause a dramatic mileage and power loss

Yeah, when was the fuel filter last changed?

funny thing is, we've heard of people who change the fuel filter and get BETTER mileage.

Why? Because even though the filter is restricting flow, which sounds like it would HELP mileage (running lean) you have to lean into the go-pedal more which make it use MORE gas.

Clean the MAF too...

10-15K is usually a good rule of thumb... unless you run one brand of quality gas... ala BP or Shell or Chevron. If you mix and match... like with ma and pop stores, raceways, and so on... 10-15k is the way to go... quality gas will be ok with 20k mile change intervals

Global warming tie in....Your truck knows that the fed and tree huggers are looking to tax the snot out of you for your carbon footprint....

Some where some time you ticked the old girl off and she is making sure you get appropriately punished....

Perhaps it was the cute Hemi Dodge that you shamed last winter...?

She thought the golden truck Nuts were cute and wanted to get a better look... but... You had to get all Macho and pass the little cutie up and show it your rear bumper....

Your old gal is just sulking and letting you know she is really in control like most women are want to do.....

I take care of my old girl, very well. Change the oil every 3K, wash and wax her once a week (Even the engine), vaccum out the interior every week and a half, change the tranny fluid every 23-25k change the rear end fluid every 80 to 90k. She seems to be getting really spoiled lately

Matt,
Could you wax my engine? lol

Talking about spoiled - I had one guy ask me how much my new 1-ton run me? I said it ain't new and was about 1/3 the cost of the new ones. Yeah...it looks new...when I wash it. These trucks are worth taking care of!
