ok i took the dog for a ride to the ice cream store yesterday and i had the girlfriend drive while henry and I sat in the bed...it was litirally 1 mile away...any ways i noticed a pretty loud clunk coming from underneath in the back that i cant hear while im driving...could this ne something normal since i never ehard it while driving or is it something i should be concerned with?
Could possibly be the rear U-joints like mentioned above, or possibly the springs hitting. Unlikley, but it could also be the bearings in the rear end...they will make this noise you mentioned if they are cooked; but you should notice oil around the axles on either side if they were shot.
This may sound silly but do you have a tonge in your receiver. I had this happen to me soon after I purchased my truck. I went over the RR tracks and kept hearing a thump, I checked the bed bolts, spare tire, etc. Realized I had left the tonge in, removed it and the thud was gone. I realize I'm glutten for punishment making the tonge in the receiver comment.
wow do i feel stupid....i couldnt get the toungue out of the reciever as i can find my key...any ways i wedged it so it didnt move as much and kazaam!!! the noise was gone,...thanks wiingnut!!

Yeah, they make the hitch stuff too sloppy. Another thing to fix.
