Aside from a flash done 9/04 (forget which #) for my truck shutting off while driving I have none of the other flashes. During my fix-it year of 2006 where the truck spent weeks in the shop I told them at the time I didn't want any new flashes even though I got a letter from CA DMV, they said since my problems were unrelated to flash corrections they wouldn't do them but instead say they did (it's on the service invoices) for the state requirments. I know I didn't get the injector run because my truck dosen't cycle them after shut-down.
So should I have them done or caught up?
Service manager and tech say not to if I have none of the symptoms they are designed to address, they can always do them later.
If you're not having any running issues with it now then I'd leave it alone. Like was said.....you can always do it later, but you can't undo it.....at least not from Ford.
I agree that if your truck is performing well, then leave it alone. I'm still running my original flash and I wouldn't change it. If I remember correctly, they give you like 6 years (according to the letter from Ford) to get the flash done....and who knows how many new flashes would be out in that time!? If you're happy with it, leave it alone since they are irreversible!!
I am kinda on the fence on this one, the first 7 flashes (seems like 17) seemed to create issues for alot of owners. SO that part I kinda agree with, if its running right, leave it alone. However, the last 3 flashes have specifically addressed known issues, and are targeting longevity of expensive components (mainly injectors) as well as deleting some of the sensors that do not play well nicely with each other. The buzz flash was the best one to get. The inductive heating may work better in the short term, but excessive heat/voltage kills electrical components. I will tell you this, Ford nor the Techs are guessing anymore if this flash or that flash will cure symptoms, cause they absolutly do, if performed properly. Unless I had say a crispy $2500 burning a hole in my pocket to use for injector replacement just out of warranty, I would go get the latest flash, buzz or the inductive heating version.

Thanks I was wondering that myself; about the injectors...mind you my '04 only has 16K on it.
your service guys down at the dealership are good guys not to force unnecessary flashes on you. But with an 04' with only 16k on it my suggestion would be to get the 06E17 flash that cycles the vgt so the vanes don't stick. have you had a turbo replaced?
