I just put 2 4x4x10 poles 3ft in the ground and 8 ft apart. The plan is to put a 4x4x8 pole on top and hang a swing in the middle. will this design be stable enough for my 9yr old.
I'm amazed that a 9 year old would want to swing in this day and age.
My neighbors bought their then 3 year old son a swingset with slide etc...and now at age 5, I bet he's been on the thing maybe three times! The only action it sees now is birds that sit on it.
Gotta hand it to you, modar. Telling your kids (and the 'ol lady, too, huh?) that it's gonna be a swing for 'em is pretty smart. Then when they complain they can't use it 'cause of the truck engine hanging from it, you just say you were making sure it was gonna be strong enough...sure don't want anyone to get hurt. Wink. Wink.

One swing, with plenty of room for turning and spinning I'm building it under the Elm tree. I checked around and decided I could build a better swing than you can buy, and for a 1/4 of the price.
