Neighbours are getting a new roof. Everything was going fine till around 8 am when one of the old guys blew his stack. They were laying a long sheet of tarpaper and the wind caught it so it wouldn't lay down and he started cussing everyone out. Now every other word is f this f that. Been going like that all morning now.
I don't know why the kid doesn't tell him to stfu and get his own shingles you don't need to yell at people like that. Once or twice is ok if someone's lazy or stupid and then you get rid of them. But this guy's been yelling at that kid all morning, and he's a good worker, kid hasn't stopped moving. When no one's calling for nails or shingles he's looking round to see what needs to be picket up.
What about you guys? When you were new on the job did you get a lot of ****? Do you get pissed off and take it out on the new guys?
I take on alot of side jobs and usually if the job is big enough,I take my son with me as a helper.I work with builders and after they frame a floor or a roof,We go in and deck it,or we install the kitchen,or do the siding,or windows, etc.Well anyway,we are on a jobsite and I tell my son to take a break and go sit in the shade because he looks like he is overheating. It was like 95deg outside and we were doing a roof.Anyway the forman for their crew comes over and starts screaming and yelling at my son. I get down off the roof, walk over to him in front of his whole crew and tell him.if you ever yell at my son,or anybody else while I am on the jobsite,I will plant my hammer right between your eyes. He runs to his truck and calls his boss, who is a friend of mine. His boss tells him that he better listen because I will do it! So,for the rest of the week we were there, all the guys from their crew were coming up to me and saying thank you for making him be more human.I then went to my buddy, his boss, and told him to address the situation or alot of his guys were going to quit.So he demoted him and after about three days the guy quit!

i personally woulda talked to the guy yelling on your neighbors roof. you could even tell him that you have oung children in the house and that screaming at people is no way to get your point across, muchless swear at them.
and no, i wouldn't put up with that crap. rather than being violent, i'd ask him/them nicely to stop and if they didn't, i'd walk off the job. i deserve more RESPECT than that. most people forget that word...
