quick intake question

Would a stock 351W intake fit on a 302?

if you use the intake you HAVE to use the heads......yes it is wider...because of the deck heighths......

So if I swapped the 302 heads with the 351W heads the 351W intake would fit?

correct, and you'd get slightly better flow = more torque

Hmmm...I never knew this. Wish I had known BEFORE I swapped the 302 in I have a stock 1969 351W and didn't know if the intake from that would fit the 302. If all I have to do is swap the heads....now you have my brain storming. lol thanks....

You can swap the 351 heads to the 302, but you still aren't going to be able to make the 351 manifold fit on the 302.

Not true. There is little difference in the heads. The block is the reason that you can not use the 351W intake on a 302. The block is 1.3" taller and wider so the intake will not fit between the heads no matter which heads that you use.
The 69 heads may have a bit larger valves, but they are dimensionally the same on the outside.
So no, the 351W intake will not fit on a 302.

I feel the need to quote this to reinforce what LxMan1 said since someone said you can swap the intakes... you CANNOT swap the intakes. I don't know where he got his information, but hopefully now he knows better.<hints id="hah_hints"></hints>

Thank you guys for clearing this up for me. Yes, I know better now. I didn't know if it was possible or not (didn't think so) so I figured I'd be safe and ask. I still haven't decided if I'm just going to find a 4v intake for the 302 or rebuild the 351W and drop that in. It's just a work/play truck I drive. Again, thanks for all your help!

lol, I was referring to flareside_thunder, who thought you could swap intakes, which you can't. I wasn't saying I hope you know better, I was saying I hope he knows better, and doesn't continue to pass on this misinformation. You were just asking a question. No problems there :-)

I would suggest you rebuild the 351 (as will everyone else, really). It'll have more torque and if you plan on doing any modifications, you'll get more power for cheaper out of the 351.
