Steering column electrical problems
I am having some problems in my column. When I tilt my wheel right up, my headlights will sometimes go out. Previously I had some wire chafing on my tow/haul harness that was blowing a fuse once in a while. Are these common problems?

I have heard of wire chafing issues in the steering column on here before, but I wouldn't exactly call them common.
Just wondering though do you put your steering column up and down a lot? Trying to figure out if that may be the cause, or if some trucks just don't get the harness installed very well.

My 02 SD had the problem. The turn signals would not work if the wheel was down, I had to drive it wuth the wheel in the up position (like a bus), until I opened the column to find the harness was too tight, and needed to be a little longer. The connector was actually pulling apart with the wheel down. Simple to fix. while i was in there, I just pulled some slack for all of the wires, and it never has happened again.
