WOW! Airraid, nice set of hooters ya got there!! What a trip!!!
I too sought something a little more impressive than the hi/lo duo on most vehicles. I guess I chose the cheaper route when I scavenged my favorite salvage yard for a tuned quad horn set from a Cadillac Fleetwood Broughn (also found on some Buick Electra 225's).
These may be electric but they give off the four chord tone of a diesel switcher ... and quite loud!
All 12 ga wiring run through a heavy duty solenoid direct from the battery with the whole set mounted pointing down and slightly forward behind the bumper on an angle iron frame I've had "offenders" literally jump out of their seats when called on their "transgressions".
Can't even imagine what your chorous sounds like .... SUPER
Did you have to install overload springs in the back so you don't "bottom out" when the ones in the bed go off ?????

We carry the best quality REAL Train Horns from the Legend Air Horn company.
Also be very careful buying ebay chinese junk much of it is paper thin horns, that pit and rust and pumps with 10% duty cycle that take 10 mins to refill tanks and overheat etc... and many look alike but can have totally different internals and a $50-$200 price difference
There is a guy near here that has a flatbed f250 and his entire headache rack is completely full of air horns. There is no less than forty horns on that thing, but none as big as yours.
Ive looked into getting a train horn for my truck also but the compressor it too big to go behind my seat and I dont want it in the bed. But I think it would be hilarious to have one. Go to hornblasters.com and they have about 10 different videos with them blowing them at people in the streets. I have a dixie horn on my truck and it will still scare some people.

For those who care to take the time, the old york A/C compressors can be converted to use as on board air. I have a couple of the old compressors, just havent ever taken the time to try it. However, I do already have the tank on the truck. I just need to plumb it and put the compessor and horns on. I also can't decide where I want to mount the horn. I do not want it in sight. I do not want it under the hood as I don't want the sound muffled. I do not want it under the truck, where it will fill with mud. Actually, now that I think about it, I guess I could mount them pointing straight down. Will that make it louder? (like turndowns on exhaust)
I would like to have them on my 03 explorer and when some soccer Mom fails to yeild I could blast her and send her sailing into next Sunday six ways...LOL
Thats the exact reason my wife is fighting me on getting some. We have two lights that people like to run all the time, sure would be nice to dirty their laundry!
i have the dixie air horn kit on my truck, got it from jc whitney years ago, there also was in the same catolog a picture of a train and some long air horns, said 133db air horns, also said "check local noise abatement laws before ordering" the kit was around 130 bucks at the time (this was 1989 or so) i havent seen a jc whiney catolog in years , i dont know if there still available or what they cost. i dont rember what my dixie horns cost, im amazed they still work after almost 20 years (althogh for about 15 years they werent in a vehicle, stored in a barn with some tires and stuff)
jc whitney is still around, based in Ill somewhere. I havent bought anything from them for a few yrs since they screwed me with a $80 truck console that I later saw at P*P Boys on sale for $30.
what is the legality on train horns in automobiles? we just got a set in at the shop where I work, you can really scare it out of people
My neighbor is a policeman in my county of Henrico, VA and says he knows of no limit - decibel wise. He (and surrounding neighborhoods) got to listen to my horns the entire Halloween evening last year. No problems.
Putting any such item on a vehicles requires forethought and restraint. I wouldn't do anything foolish like sounding them outside a church, after hours, near people and such. The person doing that deserves a citation.
I wrote the train horn article on the home page. Those are Nathan Airchimes on my truck's rack.
