I know this may seem simple but I have made phone calls and search the interest and my question is... the 3 ***** that control the lo/hi, the heat/ac and the AC/defrost/floor the middle **** controlling the hot/cold air will not switch to cool. any ideas on replacement parts...I seem to be asking the wrong question or just can't find the part. Need help its May in Texas and its getting really warm outside during the day. Thanks for any help.
You need to post your question though in the tech forums since this one is used for introductions. Just click on the Forums tab at the upper left and browse over the list. I suggest trying this one: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum25/ Click on it and it will take you to the forum. There is also a heating and cooling forum here that offers a lot of help. I wouldn't be surprised if you had a blend door or a vacuum issue. Posting in there may get you going.
Don't miss out on the fun in the Texas chapter, it's your key to local events and support (it's towards the bottom of the Forums list).
I agree, sounds like a vaccum problem. Sometimes those hot, cold mix switchs do go bad as well as the vaccum canisters that control the mix doors. Getting the a/c heat cluster off is not a big deal, it's relatively easy, you just pop off the trim cowl thats around the a/c heat, radio cluster and there's usually (4) 9/32 screws holding the a/c heat cluster on. Not sure if u can replace the hot/cold switch or if u have to replace whole cluster, but u can at least check the vac hoses on back of the switch for any air leaks and u can also inspect the vac. canister for the door itself. Not sure where your's is but they all used to be located on passenger side under the hood on the evaporater case right up against the firewall. The canister is kinda brass or aluminum in color, and has a 1/4 or 3/8 in. vac. hose attached to it. I used used to install ford factory a/c heat on ALL fords at at most of the Ford dealerships in my area so I hope this helps you. Will keep tabs on this thread an dwelcome to the site, I'm a newbie too.
