I am looking to buy a 08 F350 4x4,SRW,LB,6.4L, auto. I have read several articles saying the F250/350s weighs 8K lbs as they sit on the lot(curb weight i think). The dealer says they dont weigh anymore then GM or dodge but they are idiots. I know all brands of trucks weigh more because of all the emissions equipment. My concern is why would I want to buy a ford at 8K lbs when I could by a gmc at 7K lbs. Can anyone tell me if they weighed there 08 trucks and if they REALLY know what the competition weighs. If I wanted a heavy truck that can pull a lot I wouuld buy a semi! For my 50K I expect a truck that is light and can pull a lot. I would drive the truck everyday and around 15k a year. I do more drag racing and sled pulling they real towing. So, I dont want any extra weight for daily driving. The ford commerials drive me crazy. Sure they can pull the most but they are also the heaviest trucks. Where's the engineering in that? My grandma could make a heavy truck with low enough gears to pull a house and I bet she wouldn't charge me 50K! Thanks for any help!!
You didn't say what cab configuration but a regular cab weighs in around 6200 (according to Edmunds.com) but that's with the base V8. I'd say it is safe to add an additional 300 or so for the PSD.
BTW, if you want to be able to pull and carry the most then you need the strength and build quality to back it up. That comes in the form of metal. Emissions stuff doesn't add all that much weight.
From the information I found, that truck would weigh about 6720, but it didn’t specify what engine it was. I think the F-450 CC, LB, 6.4L 4x4, DRW tops out at 8700lbs.
My 03' weights in at 8,070 with me in it and 3/4 tank of fuel. Fords are beefed up more than a GM or Dodge that is why they have higher gcrw than the other two. They are not toys like the others. Let me know when your grandma is ready to put out some prototypes I'll test one for sure.
Thanks for all the info guys keep it coming. I want a CC. the 450 would be complete over kill and therefore a waste of money for me. Ya I saw that the 450 weighed a crap load. I think over 9K lbs. This didn't surprise me because it really isn't a pickup. Its a commercial cab and chassis with a pickup bed on it. Anyway, all the dam specs I see is for crappy gas trucks (no offense V10 man). What is the weight difference between a V10 and diesel? I would think 500lbs or more. Weight doesn't equal strength!! GM's pull just as big of trailers but weigh significantly less and you dont see them on the side of the road with bent or cracked frames. Plus, they have the same interior options and sizes so there shouldn't be any weight difference there. The only diff. is that GM's have IFS which is ~350lb lighter then a solid axle.

Is your 03 auto or manual? Is that weight with the truck stock (no mods) just as you would drive it off the lot? Have the fords always been significantly ~800lbs heavier then the GM's. I dont care about comparing dodge because they are so far behind in quality its discusting (Dr. Z can pedal is crap somewhere else)! What kind of mpg do you get? What is your driving style and towing weights? Thanks
Fords are always heavier from what I have seen: solid front axle, bigger factory tires, thicker frame, etc. The only reason I drive one is because of the solid front axle, I spend most of my time in 4WD and completely buried at one time or another. IFS is great for asphalt and rides real nice. For an even lighter and smoother truck, just get 2WD.....

It is an auto, it is stock except for 285's, and a fifth wheel hitch that weights about 60 lbs. I have a 91 gal transfer tank, but I didn't have it yet when I weighed the truck. I try to keep it at 71 or so on the highway and get 15.5 constantly if I do 67 mph I will get 16.5. I try to accelerate easy (keeping it below 2200 rpm's), but I like to hear the striaght-pipe . Towing campers seems to be pretty consistant at 9 mpg unless it's a smaller travel trailer (6500 lbs or so). There are many times that I tow over 15,000 lbs and still get 9 mpg (unless there's a big head wind then I have my foot in it), but it's flat where i live even though it's not in Iowa and I'm out there alot. When I pull my 30 foot goose neck flatbed I get about 12.5 mpg. They say that with a DP tuner you can pick up 2 or 3 mpg, and I plan on doing that soon. Hope that helps, Dale
I saw a test in Diesel Power on the new 08' F-250 SD w/6.4 Auto CC 4X4 Lariet and they had listed that it weighed in a tad over 8,000 lbs. The diesel is a heavy motor. The gas versions will be quite a bit lighter.
