I wont to get rid of the a/c box in my eng. compartment and cover up the hole. I'm not old enaff to need it yet, but I do need a heater. Do I half to fab. my own or is there an aftermarket plate I can buy. She is a 1974 F250.
Your best bet is to check in on the '73-'79 F250 forum. We have a few with experience, but they have a bunch of experts. I'm not chasing you away. Just trying to get you to a larger audience. Stick around and you may get an answer here too.
Try the other thread, but hang around here, cause you might get an answer...
BigMike, you need to keep your heater for the defroster part to work - and I am not sure there is a lot of space saving by removing the air conditioner. Maybe they can answer your question in the technical forums, but I expect you are going to have to make a trip to a junk yard and measure a heater only box.
I removed the air conditioner in my old 73 when I was fighting with changing my heater core. That job was a PITA, but after removing the ac, I made it easier for the next time. Unfortunately, there wont ever be a next time, as old Rutz has long been given away to a deserving associate.
I would bet that there is a better method of easing that job, and the place to look is exactly where old dog directed you to. I would have researched the procedure, but was in a hurry to get heat out of my truck at the time. Over at the 73-79 forum would be your best bet. Some pretty fart smellers over there.
