Cardin joint
My 1984 Bronco needs a new Cardin joint according to the mechanic whom last looked over my Bronco in the shop. What does this joint do??? He says a machinist needs to do the job( they send the joints out). Can anyone give any insight?? Does anyone in the greater Philly region know of someone who does a good job with these???

Cardin joint
It's also known as a Hooke Joint, Universal Joint or U-Joint, it is a simple flexible coupling using a double yoke and four-point center cross.

Cardin joint
some people call it a cv joint, it's the one at the transfer case side of your driveshaft. I bought a replacement double cardan joint at advance for like 40 bones (can't remember for sure, it was a couple years ago), and at any rate all it is is two normal u-joints with a little carrier bearing in the middle, not terribly difficult to replace.
