Had my truck aligned the other day. There was a pull to the right before and a pull to the right after. Alignment people showed me the data after the fact and it showed it was aligned.
They suggested a add on "device" that would help the adjustment and perhaps align it true.
Would a defective pitman arm cause the truck to pull to the right?
I was told by a mechanic (a couple of years ago) that there was evidence of the pitman arm going bad and to keep an eye on it but no one else has said anything about it.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks,
No a pitman arm wont make it pull.
A good alignment shop will adjust the camber and caster to get rid of the pull. You might also try swapping the front tires side to side and see if that changes it.
My 97 f-150's has a squeel when steering, I thought it would have been the steering box. When I Had someone else turn while I inspected it, come to find out all I had to do was grease my pitman arm. I have reccently found that this is a common problem like the rear window calk displacement leak. As far as pulling to the right, pitman arm should not be your problem.
