Wheather I'm idling or traveling down the highway, my 2003 6.0 will be running along and then all of a sudden it's like some one stabed the fuel petal. I've change the filters thinking this was the problem, but it wasn't. Does anyone have any idea's as to what it might be?
Thanks
cant wait to see the post for this mine is doing the same exact thing...pulled in to the local choke and puke and it was like someone was burping the throttle...jumping about 200-400 RPM and t was idling...it has done this a few times...hope someone has an answer......
The intermittant jump in rpm's is many times associated with a bad ICP sensor. Relatively simple component replacement and most owners never experience the rpm jumping issue ever again... The biggest problem with this particular issue is getting the truck to "act up" while at the dealer simply because they aren't going to start throwing parts at a problem that they have not experienced or diagnosed. Good luck
The Injector Control Pressure sensor is covered under the 100,000 mile engine warranty- There is a $100 deductable cost if the vehicle has more than 36,000 miles (but less than 100,000 miles). My 03 had a faulty ICP that caused an intermittant rpm jump for about a year before it finally did it at the dealer. I never had a rpm jump after the ICP was replaced Several other 6.0 owners have reported similar rpm issues being resolved with the ICP replacement.
