Hey guys i just placed a order for the Mag-Hytec trans pan and rear diff cover for my 1999 F350 CC Dually w/ PSD and 4R100 trans. What fluid for the trans do you recommened and also for the rear diff. The rear diff is a Dana 80 w/ 4:10 and LS, do i need LS additive also for it? Iam going to place a order w/ BTS for there valve body since a DP-tuner chip is going to be order in a few weeks!! Thanks again for any info
Erik
I am going to be going with shaeffer's in a couple of weeks. Since you are going to be going to a BTS Valve body. I would order their trans fluid and rear diff fluid at the same time. BTS recommends Shaeffers trans fluid in all of their transmissions. If you order over $300 from these guys you will get free shipping. www.specializedlubricants.net oh yeah no additive need with Shaeffers. it already has it in it.
Where did you get the Mag-Hytec and what did you pay for it. Good luck, you will love the DP-Tuner and Valve body.

Thanks for the reply! I'll check out the link you put up for the lube. I buy most of my stuff for my Ford from this site, check it out best prices i can find so far. I order the AFE stg 2 w/ pro guard filter from them and they had the BEST price w/ even a discounted price after you "check out" on the shoping cart..oh yeah here is the site... http://www.alligatorperformance.com/
thanks again!!!

Just a little info for you on the price diffrence. I live in NJ and used to shop at Xtreme Diesel, great place (most parts and fluids in stock, great people!) but iam saving money at the link i posted. I bought the AFE stg2 w/proguard from alligatorperformance for $402.09, Xtreme Diesel wanted $455.56 plus 7% sale tax. Diff cover from alligatorperformance was $220.50, Xtreme Diesel wanted $233.25 plus the NJ sale tax 7%. Alligatorperformance dosn't have shipping cost or tax so i just have to wait a few days for the parts and save money! Sorry for this post (seems like iam addvertising for them) but i love it when i find a place that is cheap!!LOL
I just ordered my AFE and the Mag-Hytec Diff cover on Monday. XDP matched the prices of thoroughbred and I think beat Alligator too. Idaho = no internet salestax and they did free shipping... you just have to fill out the little price match form (it only took a minute to do 2 of em) and XDP called me on the phone in 30 mins and I placed the order. Great Service so far... A few great sites out there for ordering, doesn't hurt to check them all out and compare them on every order you intend to make...
OK, now my question is really what fluid do I get for the rear diff??? I wasn't sure so I didn't order any yet. I supposedly have the 3.73 limited slip in my F350...
I'm thinking of the "Royal Purple" synthetic oil on the XDP website.
Do I get the 75-90 or the 85-140???
Also, since I have a limited slip, I guess I need to get the Motorcraft Additive Friction Modifier too??? IF so, do I get just 1 bottle or do I need more??? How do I tell???
I got this info right from AllDataPro (iam a memeber)
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=4 align=center border=1><TBODY><TR vAlign=top><TD>Front Differential (4wd models) </TD><TD>SAE 75W-90 </TD></TR><TR vAlign=top><TD>Rear Differential </TD><TD>SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Note: The axle lubricant should be changed any time the axle has been submerged in water. Add 4 ounces of friction modifier additive C8AZ-19B546-A, Ford Specification EST-M2C118-A for complete refill of Traction-Lok axles. Refill capacities are determined by filling the axle 1/4" - 9/16" below bottom of fill hole.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
You can get fluid with friction modifier already in it, so make sure you don't add more if it's already there. I put in Mobil1 full syn ATF (Mercon V), but that's my personal preference. Go with what you like...
