Actually, my trans came out of an 01 f-150 so it would be a PI converter... I need to replace it then with what year and engine converter you think JL?
No,no..PI=Precision Industries in this case.
The only torque converter that they make that's worth anything is the multi-disc,and it needs work after you get it.They use a crappy clutch material that fails and flakes off clogging the fluid passages in the trans. The stock torque converters in F150's are a 12".

Really, I hear wonderful things about thier vigilante line? Perhaps factory tech would be the way to go anyway.
At one time PI made a good converter. But with the introduction of the lockup converter-they just didn't think about how the high HP cars would literally destroy the wimpy little single discs,so they had to back up and redesign it as a multiple plate lockup clutch for high HP applications. Problem is-they use what I consider to be the crappiest clutch material that's made-clutches in stock converters are stronger.
The other problem I've seen out of them is lack of quality control, and hackjob methods to get stall speed.
Personally I refuse to buy anything from Factory tech. Greg goes on and on about trans building like it's a black magic voodoo art of some kind when it's not anything like that. Deceptive practices in marketing a product gets me very irritated-I despise an unethcial vendor that sells product based on customer ignorance, and IMO-that's what he does.
