Well, once again, this goes back to the fully boxed frame. Other than the engine and rear axle, your truck is identical to one with the 5.4L. Other than power, there simply shouldn't have been a problem towing that kind of load.
IMHO, it would do just fine if you could keep the tranny from shifting around too much, and if it weren't for very long.

I ran my F150 on my gtech and came up with 255 rwhp twice. That is 300 hp minus 15%. This was before break-in.
