Sometimes after my trucks been sitting for more then 24 hours I get this loud growl from the engine on start up, it almost sounds like it's coming from the dash. It’s hard to explain but it only last about half a second. There seems to be no correlation with temperature. Sometime it can sit longer and not have a problem. Anyone else experience this? I’m worried something is not getting oiled well.
I seem to have been getting the same thing on my 07 SCrew Lariat. I'm thinking it has something to do with the climate control. It does not seem to do it when I have the auto climate control turned off.
Yes I know about the AC blend doors noise, that doesn’t bother me. This noise is very loud and is definitely coming from some engine related component.
I asked this same question at my local dealership and one of the Techs mentioned something about it coming from the AC compresser? So I left the AC on on start-up and it made the noise? Tried it again the next day and nothing.... go figure. I'm going to have it checked out at the dealership this weekend!
Mine does this sometimes after sitting for several days. Feels like the engine surges for a split second on startup, definitely a sort of growling noise. I have a hot no-start issue also that I haven't resolved yet, not sure if it's related.
