I will keep my eye out for an intake y-pipe for ya! everynow and then I run across and early 99 on or others. Pm me for how much you are willing to spend and I can help you out.
As for fitting the tranny cooler. it was tight but the horizontal bars of that header panel could be cut out with out a problem and then it would fit better. I was looking at the trucool models after I was done and you could find a way to fit it. Where there is a sawzall there is a way! there is actually more room behind the intercooler than there is in front of it so you could probably mount it there depending on how thick it is.
ok the trucool 4739 is 1.25" thick. it would be very tight up front. I will try to look later and see. I am pretty sure there was that kind of room behind the IC but it too would be tight. there is that kind of room lower behind the bumper but not sure there is good enough air flow there.
Thanks TJ, I will PM.
About the tranny cooler, the IC could be mounted more to the rear, modifing the supports and get more space in front? And your tranny cooler how much thick is?
I think my tranny cooler now is 3/4" to 1" thick. It was tight where I have it now. if I were to move it to the passenger side more it would hit the header panel. but like I said before that head panel can be trimmed if not cut right out on either side of the vertical center piece. I could not move my cooler back any farther than it is now unless I moved it down a bit also as the top mounts are as close to the core support as they can be with out being directly bolted to it. The hardest part of knowing what will fit and what won't is that there is no science involved in this mod. mount it where ever you can make it fit. I am sure that you could fit the trucool in there some where. I am sure other have as its a pretty common cooler and more people are using this intercooler. I just wish I had the trucool here so I could tell you for sure. Maybe once I get a few extra bucks around I will just buy a trucool as they seem to be a great cooler then I can tell you for sure!
I really like those lights, I would get a pair but it would be like putting lipstick on a pig . Great job on the picts, somebody will get a lot of info from your efforts.
I like it ALOT Devious Honey. You did a great job installing. I have seen several great buys on Intercoolers on ebay lately. I may do it to my truck in the near future. Just curious, did you use a Die Grinder ( Air) driven to make the cuts for your cooler?
I used a air powered mini sawall and a couple cuts with a die grinder with a cut off wheel. And toward the end I used a full size sawzall. Cutting the holes what the most frustrating part. thats why they don't look nice and clean like many installs I have seen. I get sick of making clean cuts and just hack away till it fits!
If you really wanted to get fancy you could clean up the opening with some rubber, or plastic molding, but then again no one is going to be looking under your hood.
yeah i had thought about cleaning it up but then decided it was not worth the effort since I was the onlyone to see it. well other than all of you looking at my webshots.
Shoot now I gotta clean it up and replace those pics! No on second thought I have bigger and better things to do!
Well, back to those lights of yours. You say they are bolt-ons that sounds good to me. Do they use the same light bulb as the old one or same question the connection to the light stays the same right? Thanks
P.S. Its amazing how similar our trucks already are. I got stop trying these things you do. I'll end up with exactly the same truck as you, and thats not very original. LOL, but it still would be a very nice truck. Maybe one day I'll get some pics on here for you to see.
