Couple of ?

I have an 87, 5.0 with about 114,000 on it.

I noticed today that when I'm trying to hold 2000 rpm in park the engine will rev to 2300, then back to 2000, then to 2300, back to 2000. I have a pretty steady foot.Where do I start on this one?

Also my oil pressure was running low side of normal while towing the boat, stopped evry thing was fine, the next day I smelled some oil burning stopped and a section of the dipstick had burnt oil on it. Now to compond it, it seems to be temperature related. I changed oil, new filter. When the temp gets up to the "N" in normal I can pull the dipstick and it's smoking in the same spot(about where it bends around manifold). Also the oil pressure goes way up/down when I get in this range depending on RPM's. When it's below this the oil pressure stays right between te "m" and "a" in normal, where it's been ever since I bought the truck. I also recently started towing a boat.

Is that enough problems, or will this do to start. Thanks for any help guys, I generally lurk and pick up all kinds of good stuff .

Joe
