Had this start today in my '98 Ranger:
When the key is turned "on" there is one beep.
When the engine starts there is one beep.
About 20-30 seconds later there is a series of five beeps.
The 5-beeps repetes three or four times then no more beeps.
I haven't driven it long enough since this started so I don't know if it repetes again later. Any ideas what this might be?
When it beeps the series of five, as soon as it starts grab your seatbelt and move it around in the latch, if it stops it's just not properly detecting your seatbelt is on.
the airbag light stays off?? and the interior light stays off I had a problem once where the switch on the door pillar was dirty and it made the light stay on i cleaned it with wd40 and it was fine after that ( that was on a f250 tho)
Check your owners manual with respect to the airbag system. Seems to me I read in the past the same beeping series, and it was the airbag system. Rangerpilot might be right on with the seatbelt, but the owners manual should indicate what it is. Standard trouble codes just set the check engine light without any beeps, but the restraint system seems to be seperate.
Well, as luck would have it, I can't get the beeping to happen again. Most likely a switch or sensor that's dirty or sticking. I'll have to wait until it happens again.
I'll bet that you mentioned 'in front of your truck', that you were taking it to a mechanic didn't you. You might as well have told your dog that you were taking it to the vet, lol. Happens every time
